Funeral services for Bennie “Big Jim” Bowman of Bogue Chitto are 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Center Street Church of Christ, with burial in Friendship M.B. Church Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with family hour from 6:30 until 7:30.

Mr. Bowman, 65, died March 12, 2013, at his home. He was born in Lincoln County on March 31, 1947, to George Bowman and Ruby Lee Ray Bowman.

He was a 1965 graduate of Eva Harris High School and was a retired from International Paper Co., where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of Center Street Church of Christ and also attended Thayer Church of Christ, where he was active in the Brothers Training Class and was the building upkeeper.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Alice Berry Bowman; two brothers, Edward Bowman Sr. and James “Bae Bae” Bowman; sister-in-law, Grace Bowman; and brother-in-law Johnny Moore.

Survivors are his two sons, Benny Bowman of Brookhaven and Kelby Bowman of Madison; three daughters, Karmisha Bowman of Brookhaven, Shana Bowman of Hattiesburg and Telia Bowman of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren, Migai Barber, Tashi Johnson, Keldri Bowman and Kelby Bowman Jr.; two brothers, George Jupiter and wife, Cynthia, of Chicago, and Billy Bowman of Bogue Chitto; three sisters, Jo Shirley McDaniels of Bogue Chitto, Patricia Bowman of Chicago and Linda Moore of Port Gibson; special friend and brother in Christ, Bro. Jessie McClendon of Bogue Chitto; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and church family.
