A Lincoln County man charged in the shooting death of a CopiahCounty man has been indicted on murder charges, according to courtrecords.

Xavier Demond Vaughn, 26, of 691 Baldwin Loop, was indictedFriday in the March 24 death of 23-year-old Billy Ray Miller, Jr.,of 1191 Cain Road in Wesson, said Lincoln County Sheriff SteveRushing. Vaughn will face arraignment Jan. 7, 2008.

The shooting happened while the men were attending a familygathering honoring a recently deceased loved one at a residence at2130 Old Highway 51, Rushing said. The fight was reported at 10:07p.m. and law enforcement authorities were dispatched to thescene.

Investigator Johnny Hall said Miller and Vaughn’s wife had had adisagreement earlier in the day and Miller showed up uninvited tothe gathering to confront her.

When deputies arrived, Miller had been shot in the head andanother man, 29-year-old Ed Willie Brown Jr. of Hazlehurst, hadbeen shot in the leg. Vaughn was still on the scene.
