Services for Harold M. Smith, of Monticello, are 11 a.m.Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Monticello Baptist Church with burial inWanilla Baptist Church Cemetery in Wanilla.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Homein Monticello.

Mr. Smith, 86, died Nov. 30, 2008, at Lawrence County LivingCenter Inc. in Monticello. He was born in Wanilla on Aug. 10, 1922,to Jewel Smith and Lennie Mae Polk Smith.

He was retired from Illinois Central Railroad. He moved back toMonticello from Hattiesburg in 1971. He served in the U.S. Navyduring World War II. Mr. Smith was a member of Monticello BaptistChurch, where he founded the Kit Club. Mr. Smith also served as adeacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, VirginiaSartin Smith; and a brother, Rodney Excelle Smith.

Survivors are his sons, Tom Smith, of Huntsville, Ala., and TimSmith, of Monticello; a daughter, Brenda Greenfield, of Mesquite,Texas; his brothers, Stanley Smith, of Henderson, Tenn., andHouston Smith, of Monticello; and his seven grandchildren.
