Services for Inita S. Gatlin of Slidell, La., are 1:30 p.m.,Tuesday, June 27, at Catchings Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMoak’s Creek Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 27, from 11 a.m. until service timeat the funeral home.

Mrs. Gatlin, 85, died June 25, 2000, of heart failure at herresidence. She was born March 4, 1915, in Pike County to Louis F.”Bud” Smith and Eula Victoria Keen Smith. She was a longtimeresident of the Moak’s Creek community before moving to Slidell 15years ago.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Moak’s Creek BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HollisGerald Gatlin; and her brother, Lonnie L. Smith Sr.

Survivors are her son, Lewis Gerald Gatlin; her daughter, RoseMarilyn Roberts of Lafayette, La.; her sister, Lou Anna May ofMcComb; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerousnieces and nephews.

Daisy Juanita Britt Pierce

Services for Daisy Juanita Britt Pierce of the Loyd Starcommunity are 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, at Brookhaven Funeral HomeChapel with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ralph Calcotewill officiate.

Visitation is Monday, June 26, from 4-9 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home.

Mrs. Pierce, 74, died June 24, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on May 11, 1926, to LonzoBracey Britt and Ruth Norton Britt.

She was a retired home economics teacher. She was a member ofthe Pentecostal faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Virgiland Earl Britt; and her sister, Bernice Britt.

Survivors are her husband, Jesse Pierce of the Loyd Starcommunity; her sons, Ron Pierce of Marietta, Ga., and Steve Pierceof Flowery Branch, Ga.; her granddaughters, Tina Pierce Hayner ofTurkey and Emily Katherine Pierce of Flowery Branch, Ga.; hergrandson, Jason Taylor Pierce of Flowery Branch, Ga.; hergreat-grandchildren, Simeon Caleb Hayner and Noel Dawn Hayner, bothof Turkey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board, P.O.Box 6767, Richmond, Va. 23230.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Britt, Jason Pierce, David Britt,Virgil Britt, Billy Britt, Jimmy Moak, Logan Britt, and JoePortrey.

James H. Simmons

Services for James H. Simmons of Purvis are 10 a.m., Tuesday,June 27, at First Pentecostal Church of Purvis with burial inFillingane Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday, June 27, beginning at 5 p.m. at MooreFuneral Home in Purvis.

Mr. Simmons, 67, died June 25, 2000, at his residence.

He was a ship builder. He was a member of First PentecostalChurch of Purvis.

Survivors are his wife, Odessa Simmons of Purvis; his sons,Leslie Simmons of Moss Point, and Ronnie Simmons and Heath Simmons,both of Purvis; his daughters, Dorothy Howell of Jayess and GailGrover of Florence; his sister, Lorene Poole of Denham Springs,La.; his brothers, Huey Simmons, Jessie Simmons and Larry Simmons,all of Winnsboro, La., Roy Simmons, Henry Simmons, and JohnSimmons, all of Purvis, Mark Simmons of Gainsboro, Fla., and PaulSimmons of Petal; and 14 grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren.

William Tommy Tanksley

Services for William Tommy Tanksley of the Sauls Valleycommunity, Monticello, were 3 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at SaulsValley Baptist Church in Jayess with burial in the church cemetery.Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tanksley, 78, died June 21, 2000, of snake bite at LawrenceCounty Hospital in Monticello. He was born in Lawrence County onAugust 3, 1921, to William Leon and Rilla Givens Tanksley.

He was a farmer. He was a member of Sauls Valley Baptist Church,where he was a Sunday school teacher and an active deacon. He was amaster Mason with Jayess Lodge #501. He was a veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his infant son, DonaldTanksley; his infant daughter, Irene Tanksley; his brother, WayneTanksley; and his sister, Dezzie Jones.

Survivors are his wife, Hauta Morris Tanksley of Sauls Valleycommunity; his son, Bobby Wayne Tanksley of Pearl; his daughter,Carol Keyes of the Sauls Valley Community; his brother, LeeTanksley of the Pine Grove Community; and seven grandchildren andthree great-grandchildren.
