Services for Alton Nettles Magee of Summit are 3:30 p.m.,Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Hartman Funeral Home in McComb with burialin Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Services will be conducted by theRevs. Sessions Polk and Amos Hood.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Magee, 71, died Aug. 24, 2003, from injuries sustained in anautomobile accident. He was born in Pike County on Jan. 29, 1932,to Lewis L. and Margaret Nettles Magee.

He was a retired teacher, coach and administrator who served inpublic schools throughout Mississippi and Louisiana. He was a 1949graduate of Enterprise School, and attended Southwest MississippiJunior College. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree fromNortheast Louisiana State College, and his Master’s of Educationdegree from University of Southwest Louisiana. He also followedfamily tradition and served the McComb Company L 155th InfantryNational Guard, during the Korean War. He was a dedicated and vocalmember of the SMCC Alumni Board, and enjoyed golfing, gardening andspending time with his grandson.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Mary AmyePrice and Goldia Magee Switzer; and his brothers, Monroe, Aubrey,Spencer, Leroy, Cletus and Grover Magee.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Ramona Reid Magee; hisdaughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Tom Catchings; threesisters-in-law, Marie Young Magee, Annie Ruth Gunnell Magee andEloise Ball Magee; and his grandson, Colin Catchings.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Magee, Steve Magee, Darrell Easley,Benny Welch, Tom Catchings and Colin Catchings.
