Services for Versie C. Nations, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, July 7, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial inPleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Nations, 77, died July 3, 2009, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center. He was born on Jan. 13, 1932, to Versie CollinsNations and Iva Smith.

He was retired from Herring Gas Company. He was a member ofPleasant Grove Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army duringthe Korean conflict.

Mr. Nations was also involved with Woodmen of the World and wasa recipient of the Golden Deeds Award. He cooked for numerousbenefits and was famed for his fried catfish and hush puppies.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Versie and IvaNations.

Survivors are his wife, Amaryllis Herring Nations; his sons,Freddie Collins Nations and wife, Eve, and Timothy “Timmy” WayneNations and wife, Judy; his brother, John Paul Nations and wife,Rinda Sue; his sisters, Analo Nations Wallace and Iva Nell NationsFoster and husband, Ed; his grandchildren, Joshua Collins Nations,Jonathan Christopher Nations and Keith Mulvihill; and his devotedyellow lab, Dolly.
