Services for Helen Louise Brown of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Saturday, July 14, at Mt. Wade M. B. Church with burial in New HopeChurch Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 5 p.m. at Williams Mortuarywith the wake from 7-8 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Brown, 76, died July 10, 2001, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 30, 1924, to HughBrown and Blanchie Levi Brown. She was a graduate of Jackson StateUniversity, where she received a master’s degree in elementaryeducation in 1974.

She was a retired teacher. She was a member of the Jolly GiantClub and was president of the Ministers’ Wives Union of Lincoln andAdjacent Counties. She was a member of Mt. Wade M. B. Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her sisters, MaeRatcliff and Nora Bell Levi.

Survivors are her husband, the Rev. Samuel L. Brown ofBrookhaven; her sons, Samuel H. Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas, andKenneth Brown of Scotch Plains, N.J.; her daughters, Mazel Jones ofJackson, Hazel Kenny and Ilka Brown, both of Brookhaven, and MaryScarbough of Gautier; her brother, Scott Brown of Brookhaven; and18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
