Enterprise makes history with region win over Hinds AHS

Senior Brad Prather rushed 12 times for 107 yards and caught twopasses for 41 yards, scoring two touchdowns as Enterprise ambushedthe Hinds AHS Bulldogs 35-8 Friday night on Harry Cole Field. TheFighting Yellow Jackets swarmed 310 total yards on offense as theywon their first-ever region game since entering the Region 6-2Aclassification four years ago.
“I am very proud of my guys for getting their first win indistrict,” said Enterprise head coach Josh Garrett. “Our kids workreally hard in practice to prepare themselves to face a good,athletic team. It really feels good to see and show the guys thathard work does pay off.”
The Jackets (3-4, 1-1) came out with one goal on their minds tocapture their first district win. As Enterprise blanked theBulldogs 28-0 by halftime.
Thomas Allen managed to get Enterprise on the scoreboard first ashe intercepted a pass and returned it 36-yards for the touchdownwith 10:07 remaining in the first quarter. Lance Springs wentfive-for-five on the extra points for the night.
Brad Prather scored the Jackets second touchdown when he caught a23-yard pass from Cody White with 2:02 left in the firstquarter.
In the second quarter, Enterprise scored two more touchdowns givingthemselves a comfortable lead. Prather scored his second TD of thenight as he sprinted 43-yards to paydirt with 9:51 left in thehalf.
Springs got rewarded for his kicking skills as he caught a 3-yardTD pass from White with 4:04 remaining in the second quarter.
In the second half, Hinds AHS managed to get on the scoreboard asLaDarian Robinson intercepted a pass and ran it back for a 35-yardtouchdown. Robinson gathered enough strength after his TD to punchin the two-point conversion.
Enterprise scored its final touchdown of the game when Allenpowered his way through for 8-yards with 2:17 remaining in thethird quarter.
Defensively, Trent Sandifer and Prather led the Jackets with 8tackles apiece. Matt King provided 7 stops. White collected 6tackles. Garrett Greer, Jedd Moak, Ethan Whittington, White andKing recovered a fumble apiece.
Offensively, Greer provided help as he had 21 carries for 73 yards.Allen rushed 7 times for 50 yards. White completed 6 of 9 pass for65 yards and one interception. Spring caught 3 pass for 17yards.
Enterprise travels across the county Friday to visit division foeWesson for a key Region 6-2A contest at Stone Stadium on Co-Lincampus. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
