North Pike eliminates Purvis

SUMMIT — After dropping the first game to the Purvis LadyTornadoes, the North Pike Lady Jaguars roared back to win the finaltwo in best-of-three series in the Class 3A girls slowpitchsoftball state playoffs Thursday night.

Purvis won the opener 7-0 as North Pike came back to win thesecond game 5-3 and the final 6-4.

North Pike, coached by Sonya Wallace, hosts Southeast LauderdaleTuesday in the second round of the 3A playoffs. SE Lauderdalewhipped Raleigh 11-0 and 13-1 Thursday night.

Jenna Dickerson won 2 of the 3 games. Brianna Ladner was theloser twice.

Purvis 7, North Pike 0

In the first game, Casey Dickerson led North Pike with 2singles. Kaitlyn Perry singled.

Purvis was led by Leslie Young with a double and 2 singles.Collecting 2 singles each were Erin Anderson, Christie Stringer andHanna Anderson. Doubling was Ashton Brown. Lacey Yarborough,Brianna Ladner, Kristen Dobson and Katelyn Bell hit safely.

North Pike 5, Purvis 3

Jessica Turner powered the Lady Jags with a triple and a singlein the second contest. Maggie Dunaway and Jennifer Coney belted 2singles apiece. Emily VanLandingham, Casey Dickerson, CatherineWest and Jenna Dickerson singled.

The Lady Tornadoes got a double and a single from LaceyYarborough. Anderson, Brown and Young hit safely.

North Pike 6, Purvis 4

In the finale game, VanLandingham led North Pike with 2 doublesand a single. Ballard doubled twice. Casey Dickerson, Dunaway,Coney and Turner singled.

Pacing Purvis with a double and 2 singles was Maggie Stewart.Anderson, Brown, Yarborough, Young and Ladner singled.
