Nettles tosses no-hitter; Lady Cats blast Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – Freshman Alana Nettles provided a strong, no-hit pitching performance, striking out eight batters and allowing two walks as the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats blanked the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets 10-0 Friday night in softball action.

“Good win,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We played solid defense and hit the ball really well. Enterprise did a good job making the plays needed to keep the game close. Overall, the girls played hard and I am proud of their effort.”

The Lady Cats (9-3, 1-0) return to action Tuesday. They host the West Lincoln Lady Bears for a big Region 7-1A test. Junior varsity action kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6:30.

The Lady Jackets (2-8, 2-1) resume action Tuesday. They entertain the Loyd Star Lady Hornets. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30.

Bogue Chitto 10, Enterprise 0

Bogue Chitto and Enterprise fans gathered to witness a tough Lincoln County rivalry.

The Lady Cats overpowered the Lady Jackets with their strong defense and aggressiveness at the plate to help Nettles pitch a no-hitter in six innings of work. They accounted for 16 hits.

Mattie Avants, Daley Robert, Alexis Givens and Christian Black were the offensive leaders for BC with three singles apiece. Adrienne Wallace continued the Lady Cats’ hitting clinic with a double and a single. Colby Kirkland and Nettles hit safely.

Haley “Bug” Nations, a seventh grade left-handed hurler, absorbed the setback for Enterprise with one strikeout and two walks.

“We played a lot better than we did against Wesson,” said Enterprise coach Ashley Jones. “The girls did a good job defensively to keep us in the game. We just had a bad sixth inning. Overall, I was pleased to see that we made the adjustments necessary to compete, but we need to continue working hard to improve and finish games strong.”

In JV action, Bogue Chitto defeated Enterprise 13-1.

Lauren McCaffery tossed the win for the Lady Cats with four strikeouts and four walks. Kalyn Chemin suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with no strikeouts and one walk.

Zariah Matthews was the offense spark to lead BC with five singles. McCaffery fueled the flames with a home run and two singles. Reagan Kirkland contributed three singles. Brooke Myers ripped two doubles. Rachel White hit two singles.

Molly Burke directed the Lady Jackets’ offense with two singles. Caley Congemi hit safely.
