BOGUE CHITTO – Christian Black’s grand slam home run powered Bogue Chitto’s Lady Cats in an 11-1 stampede past the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes in Region 7-1A softball. Black also doubled and singled in the 13-hit offensive.
“It was an important district win for us,” said BC boss Scott Leggett. “We had a huge third inning that put the game away.
“Every district game is big from here on out.”
Tonight’s district home date with Natchez Cathedral has been postponed until Monday. A junior varsity game will start the twinbill at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6.
Bogue Chitto (11-5, 2-1) is entered in Saturday’s Loyd Star Invitational.
Senior Rheagan Welch (7-3) pitched the win against St. Al. She struck out 6 batters, walked none and scattered 3 hits.
Black’s performance was followed by Daley Roberts, Mattie Avants and Mallory Allen with 2 hits apiece. Adrienne Wallace, Alana Nettles, Colby Kirkland and Welch singled.
The Lady Flashes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but went scoreless the rest of the 5-inning game. Avery Parham (1K, 4BB) was the losing pitcher as BC gained a 1-1 tie in the second frame and plated 8 more runs in the third.
St. Al got singles from Mallory McGuffie, Madison Heggins and Parham.
