Services for R. Vernon Herring of Mabank, Texas, formerly ofBogue Chitto, are 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Calvary BaptistChurch with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until 9p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mr. Herring, 69, died Oct. 14, 2002, at Trinity Mother FrancisHospital in Tyler, Texas. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 15,1933, to Burt Herring and Lois Ellington Herring.

He was a retired millwright with Georgia-Pacific at Monticello.He was an official of United Paper Workers International Union,Local No. 371. He was a member of Faith Community Baptist Church inMabank.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his grandson,Justin Barksdale.

Survivors are his wife, Rose Herring of Mabank, Texas; his son,Mike Herring of Brookhaven; his daughters, Cheryl Aucoin of McComband Brenda Watts and Theresa Barksdale, both of Brookhaven; hisbrother, James Herring of Brookhaven; his sisters, Betty Walker andElaine Smith, both of Brookhaven, and Judy Burns and Faye Smith,both of Bogue Chitto; and his grandchildren, Robby Herring, ChrisHerring, Bradley Rogers, Michael Herring, Cala Aucoin, AshleyAucoin, Lauren Watts, Chase Watts, and Josh Barksdale.
