Bobcats sweep Yellow Jackets

BOGUE CHITTO — The host Bogue Chitto Bobcats swept two gamesfrom the Enterprise Yellow Jackets Thursday night in the openingnight of the Lincoln County Round-Robin Tournament.

The Bogue Chitto girls crushed Enterprise 59-20 and the Bobcatssmashed the Yellow Jackets 72-49.

Bogue Chitto faces West Lincoln tonight in the second round ofthe tournament. Saturday, the Bobcats meet the Loyd Star Hornets inthe late games. At 4 p.m. and 5:15, Enterprise tangles with WestLincoln.

Bogue Chitto 59, Enterprise 20

The Bogue Chitto girls (6-2) jumped on Enterprise (1-7) for a24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the Lady’Cats led 39-8.

“In the first quarter, we came out and played hard and hustled,”said Bogue Chitto girls coach Christi Terrell.”

Powering the Lady ‘Cats with 12 points, four rebounds and twosteals was Shasta Porter. Shelby Tobias fired in nine points andgrabbed eight rebounds. Tops off the backboards was KimberleeThomas with 10 rebounds.

Sara Burke led the Lady Jackets with 10 points and fourrebounds. Amy Lambert pulled down five rebounds.

“Bogue Chitto is a very good athletic team,” said Enterprisegirls coach Jill Nations. “My girls are working hard and improvingevery game.”

Bogue Chitto 72, Enterprise 49

In the boys game, Bogue Chitto (4-2) pounced on winlessEnterprise (0-7) to take a 20-9 lead at the end of the firstquarter. A 19-13 run in the second quarter gave the Bobcats a 39-22halftime lead.

“Bogue Chitto is very athletic,” said Enterprise boys coach JoshBass. “We made too many turnovers in the first half. We dugourselves a hole we could not get out of. We showed a lot of hustlein the second half.”

Directing the Bobcats with a game-high 24 points, 13 reboundsand three assists was Keyounna Perkins. Marion Addison netted 16points and grabbed five rebounds. Scoring 11 points was JustinGaines. Dantae Ratcliff finished with nine points, four rebounds,three steals and three assists.

Enterprise got 16 points from Andrew Williams. Jamie Smithscored 10 points.
