Lady ‘Cats nip Wesson

BOGUE CHITTO — The Wesson Lady Cobras came back with 8 runs inthe top of the seventh to tie the game at 8-all with the BogueChitto Lady ‘Cats.

In the bottom of the seventh, Bogue Chitto scored thegame-winning run for a 9-8 win in slowpitch softball action.

“We played well for the first three innings, then we shut down,”said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “Wesson didn’t quit! Theyreally battled hard. Nine of their twelve hits came in the top ofthe seventh. We see where we stand and know we have to playbetter.”

Bogue Chitto (4-1) hosts Brookhaven and Wesson invades WestLincoln Monday for a pair of doubleheaders. The junior varsity gamebegins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6.

LaToya Braxton was the winning pitcher with one strikeout andtwo walks. Absorbing the loss was Julie Berry with no strikeoutsand one walk.

Bogue Chitto outhit Wesson 13 to 12 at the plate. The LadyCobras committed 5 errors to the Lady ‘Cats 3.

The Lady ‘Cats led the Lady Cobras 8-0 after three innings.

Powering Bogue Chitto with a home run and a single apiece wereCandace Avants and Shaquille Burton. Caitlin Owen singled twice.Singling were Chelsey Miller, Kelli Howard, Dori Hall and BlaineMyers.

For Wesson, Nikki McCardle singled three times. Ann Shelby Davissingled twice. Hitting safely were Summer Easterling, Stacy Lowery,Leah Greer, Jessica Haynes, Amanda Price, Dallas Jackson andBerry.

Junior varsity action

Bogue Chitto crushed Wesson 13-4 in the JV game. Toy Smith (4-0)got the win with four strikeouts and nine walks.

Kim Thomas tripled and singled twice for the Lady ‘Cats. DarcyMiller homered and singled. Tripling was Mikki Mitchell. JesiePorter and Smith singled.
