Funeral services for Velma Watson, of Los Angeles, Calif., are11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Churchin Brookhaven, with burial in the church cemetery. R.E. TylerFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mrs. Watson, 86, died Dec. 25, 2010, at California Hospital in LosAngeles. She was born in Lincoln County on April 4, 1924, to IraRucks and Lena Beard Rucks.

She was a foster care provider.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Peggy Rucks;and her brothers, P.T. Rucks, Lucious Rucks and Julius Rucks.

Survivors are her foster son, Michael Rucks of Detroit, Mich.; herfoster daughter, Kim Rucks of Detroit; her brothers, Vernon Rucksand D.V. Rucks, both of Los Angeles, Roy Rucks of Brookhaven, andJean B. Rucks of Springfield, Mass.; her sisters, Evelyn Thorntonof Los Angeles, Reba Freeman of Brookhaven, and Mildred Peyton ofHolyoke, Mass.; and four foster grandchildren.
