Dear Editor,

I think the (Mississippi Scholars) program would be good forLincoln County schools (“Scholars program aims to prep kids forfuture success,” Aug. 8).

I am originally from Brookhaven and have children in theHattiesburg School system, where the program is already in place.My daughter is going to ninth grade this year, and she has alreadybeen in accelerated classes since sixth grade and we are lookingforward to taking AP classes starting her 10th-grade year.

The classes will be challenging, but they are necessary toprepare the children for the future. Good move and good luck withthe program. It does benefit the children in the long run.
