BA blows away Saints

PRENTISS — Brookhaven Academy met little resistance in Fridaynight’s matchup with Prentiss Christian School in District 4-AAaction as the Cougars swept a five game set from the Saints. TheCougars whipped Prentiss 60-26 and improved to 14-5 overall and 6-1in district play. The Lady Cougars topped the Lady Saints 57-27 andimproved to 20-2 overall and 6-1 in district play.

Brookhaven 60, Prentiss 26

Senior forward Corey Dickerson scored a game-high 19 points andpulled down 5 rebounds as the Cougars raced to a 22-4 lead afterone quarter and never looked back. The Cougars led 41-9 athalftime.

Sophomore guard Jake Reed registered a double-double, pouring in14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Senior guard Blaine Robertsadded 14 points and sophomore forward Jamison Powell chipped in 7points and 8 rebounds.

Moochie Speights scored 6 points to lead Prentiss. Hogan McPhailfollowed with 5 points, and Mason Dyess and Lee Dungan each scored4 points.

Brookhaven 57, Prentiss 27

The Lady Cougars put three players in double figures as seniorguard Kelli Snider scored a game high 14 points. Guard Betsy Lynchand forward Kellie Brady each scored 12 points as the Lady Cougarsraced to a 23-4 lead after one quarter before cruising to thevictory.

Freshman center Anna Katelyn Mangold pulled down 9 rebounds andBrady added 7 boards as the Lady Cougars swept the season set fromthe Lady Saints.

Jessica Bridges scored 7 points to lead Prentiss.

In junior high boy’s action, Tyler Coker scoreda team-high 9 points to lead Brookhaven to a 51-14 win. ChristianKeene chipped in 7 points and Jeff Rushing added 5.

Jay Slater led Prentiss with 12 points.

In junior high girls action, Laura Beth Wright and TerahWinborne each scored 8 points to lead Brookhaven to a 32-10 win.Summer Calhoun added 7 points in support.

Presley Dyess scored 6 points to lead Prentiss.

In seventh grade girls action, Blair Vanderslice scored 12points to lead Brookhaven to a 32-11 win.

Natalie Daley scored 4 points to lead Prentiss.
