Services for Hallie Marie Carnes Shields Thompson of UnionChurch will be at a later date.

Mrs. Thompson, 90, died Jan. 1, 2002, at her residence. She wasborn in Jefferson County on Oct. 26, 1911, to the late CharlesCorban and Harriet Temperance Mullins Carnes.

A music educator, Mrs. Thompson retired in 1964 after 26years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laddrew”Sailor” H. Thompson Sr.; sons, Thomas R. Shields and Charles R.Shields; brother, Charles E. Carnes; and sisters, Myrtle C. Rowanand Annie Bess Carnes.

She is survived by six grandchildren and several nieces andnephews.

Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
