Co-Lin Wolves get split with Delgado

NEW ORLEANS – The Co-Lin Wolves handed Delgado Community Collegea 6-3 loss in Saturday’s opener but the Dolphins got revenge in thenightcap, posting a last-inning 5-4 decision on Kirsch-RooneyField. The losses were the first of the season for Co-Lin (4-1) andDelgado (13-1).
“I’m proud that we were able to come down here to New Orleansand win for the first time,” said Co-Lin coach Keith Case. “Thiswas a really tough place to play. We played well in the first gamebut we didn’t make the plays in the second game.
“Delgado is as good as team as I’ve seen in my 10 years atCo-Lin,” Case added.
The Wolves (4-1) resume play Monday, hosting Southwest Tennesseeof Memphis.

Sophomore Derek Atkins was the winning pitcher. In 7 innings, hestruck out 3 batters, walked 4 and allowed 6 hits.
In the second inning, the Wolves scored 3 runs as Ryan Davis andSeth Lofton produced doubles. Arlandus Brown and Paris Dancy bothsingled and scored.
It was the first loss for Delgado (12-1) in 13 games. MarkFernandez was the losing pitcher. He struck out 5 and walked 4.
Co-Lin catcher David Gray tripled and singled in thevictory.

A 7-inning, 2-run double by leftfielder Mike Trestonback liftedthe Delgado Dolphins to a narrow 5-4 win over the Co-Lin Wolves inthe nightcap.
Southpaw Matthew Cair was the winning pitcher, tossing a5-hitter. He struck out 8 batters and walked 1.
Cole Zumbro was the starting pitcher. Zumbro struck out 7batters, walked 3 and gave up 5 hits. He was relieved by David Grayin the sixth who struck out 1 and walked 1, giving up 3 hits.
Third baseman Christopher Robinson and Brown each had 2hits.
In the fourth inning, Delgado’s Coach Joe Scheuermann wasejected from the game for arguing a call.
