Nathan Carter Sr.

Services for Nathan Carter Sr., of Brookhaven, will be held at11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church with burialin the church cemetery. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family present from 6 until 7 p.m..

Mr. Carter, 86, died Dec. 23, 2007, at Haven Hall Health CareCenter. He was born in Brookhaven on Nov. 26, 1921, to MatthewCarter and Anna Newton Carter.

He attended Progress School in Lincoln County. He served as atransportation specialist in the United States Army during WorldWar II. He worked at Bendix Mobile Homes, and later, as a gardenerfor M.C. Urban. He was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, where heserved as a steward and choir member.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, DerrickCarter; and his brothers, Leon Newton, Sylvania Newton, EddieNewton and Felix Carter.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Helen Dickey Carter, of Brookhaven;his sons, Roy Carter, of Hazlehurst, Nathan Carter Jr., ofHattiesburg, Jason Carter, of Brookhaven, and Kenneth Carter, ofBirmingham, Ala.; his daughters, Dorothy Smith, of Joliet, Ill.,Ebonie Hackett, of Crystal Springs, Brenda Henderson and CathyBenjamin, both of Brookhaven; his sister, Alean Fairman, ofBrookhaven; his 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jerry Truman Case

Services for Jerry Truman Case, of Brookhaven, will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel onJackson Street with burial in Macedonia Baptist ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Case, 68, died Dec. 27, 2007, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Lincoln County onAug. 6, 1939, to Claude V. Case and Gracie Smith Case.

He was retired after 18 years of service with the City ofBrookhaven. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his mother; his son, Chris Case; andhis brother, Paul Case.

Survivors are his wife, Louvenia Ann Case, of Brookhaven; hisfather, Claude V. Case, of Brookhaven; his daughters, TabbieMontgomery and husband Eddie, and Robbie Boyte and husband Tommy,all of Brookhaven; his brother, Phillip Case, of Brookhaven; hissister, Agnes Jordan, of Scottsboro, Ala.; his grandchildren,Stephanie Price, of Natchez, Bobby Price, Tiffany Smith and husbandJason, and Trudy LeRay and husband Gary, all of Brookhaven, andChristopher Case and wife Ashley, and Joshua Case, all of Thomson,Ga., and Thomas Boyte, of Jackson; his seven great-grandchildren;and numerous nieces and nephews.

Inez Magee

Services for Inez Magee, of Brookhaven, will be held at 11 a.m.on Monday, Dec. 31, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Magee, 79, died Dec. 25, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on March 12, 1928, toBenjamin Woods and Fannie Woods.

She was retired. She was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, M.L.Magee; her brothers, Frank Woods, Charles Woods, Albert Woods,Willie Woods and Huston Woods; her sisters, Beulah Mae Montgomery,Carrie Woods, Juanita Brown and Rosie Lee Woods.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sharry K. Smith

Visitation for Sharry K. Smith, of McComb and formerly ofBrookhaven, will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, atJones Family Funeral Services in McComb. A private burial will beheld at a later date.

Mrs. Smith, 66, died Dec. 27, 2007, at Camellia Estates. She wasborn in New Orleans, La., on April 17, 1941, to Hugh and HazelReeves King.

She was a salesperson with Belk Fine Jewelry in McComb andformer owner of “We Wrap It” in Brookhaven. She was a member of thePike County USBC Women’s Bowling Association and a member of BetaSigmi Phi Sorority in Brookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Kent Smith, of Summit; her daughtersand sons-in-law, Kim and Norman Butrick, and Audra and JohnBrandon, all of Summit; her son and daughter-in-law, Taylor and PatSmith, of Wisconsin; her brother and sister-in-law, Neal King Sr.and Jan of Raleigh, N.C.; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith,David Olive, Holly Olive and Laura Olive.
