Services for Verdie Mae Smith Posey of Brookhaven are 3:30 p.m.Sunday, July 8, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, July 8, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. atBrookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Posey, 86, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Simpson GeneralHospital. She was born in Brookhaven on Nov. 9, 1914, to the lateWilliam Allen and Desdia Octavia Porter Smith.

She was retired from Stahl Urban. She was a member of PleasantGrove Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, HezekiahPosey; brothers, Clyde, Bracie and Oscar Smith; and sisters, EulaRushing, Edna Cowart and Elma Lea Rushing.

Survivors are her daughters, Faye Harris of Harrisville, BarbaraMcGee of Brookhaven and Norine Fielder of Harrisville; brother, JaySmith of Valparaiso, Fla.; sisters, Mildred Brown of Natchez andEddie Vee Walker of Pearl; grandchildren, Wayne Harris, BruceHarris and Glenn Harris of Harrisville, Tammy McGee Buckley ofBrookhaven and Shane Fielder of Harrisville; andgreat-grandchildren, Brad, Josh, Kacie, Stephanie and Taylor Harrisof Harrisville and Jeremy and Jonathan Buckley of Brookhaven.
