Malcolm Bowman Brister Sr.

Services for Malcolm Bowman Brister Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn.,were 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3, at Stevens Mortuary in Knoxville,Tenn. Graveside services with burial were 11 a.m., today, Oct. 4,at Lynnhurst Cemetery.

Mr. Brister, 81, died Oct. 1, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital.He was born in Bogue Chitto on July 27, 1923, to Malcolm Aubrey andOra Bowman Brister.

He was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, X-10 divisionafter 29 years of service. He also worked for four years at StarSales. He was a member of faithful member of Oakwood BaptistChurch, where he was a deacon and dedicated worker for 50 years. Hewas a Navy veteran, with service in World War II. He was a 32nddegree Master Mason of Burlington Lodge, #763. He was a ScottishRite member.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters, all ofMississippi.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Katherine Monroe Brister ofKnoxville, Tenn.; his daughters, Nancy B. Peden of Knoxville, andPatricia B. DeLozier of Maryville, Tenn.; his son, Malcolm B.Brister of Powell, Tenn.; his brother, Shelby M. Brister of BogueChitto; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and severalnieces and nephews.

James Litt ‘Jimmy’ Speights

Services for James Litt “Jimmy” Speights of Brookhaven are 2p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Speights, 78, died Oct. 3, 2004, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center. He was born in Bassfield on Nov. 21, 1925, toRobert Litt Speights and Mertice Williamson Speights.

He was an engineering aid with the Mississippi State HighwayDepartment. He was a veteran of the Navy and served in World WarII. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Nell Strong Speights of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Connie S. Dunn and her husband, David L. Dunn, ofBrookhaven; and his three grandchildren, Misty Dunn, Laina Dunn andGarrett Dunn.
