Jefferson Co. eliminates FC Bulldogs

PRENTISS – The Jefferson County Tigers ended the Franklin County High boys’ season Tuesday night with a 57-29 win in the opening round of the Region 7-3A Tournament.

The win by the Tigers sends them into a 5:30 Thursday evening showdown with No. 1 seed Hazlehurst.

FCHS ends a rebuilding season with a loss, plagued by turnovers. Jefferson County (16-11) converted several baskets off Franklin turnovers.

In the first quarter, both teams measured one another as the quarter iended in a 11-11 deadlock.

Jefferson County erupted the next two frames for a convincing 37-19 lead, while the Bulldogs only mustered eight points in both quarters.

The Tigers scored 20-points in the fourth frame and the Bulldogs scored 10.

Jarmel Anderson led Jefferson County with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Bulldogs, Fred Nelson finished with a team-high 14 points and five steals. Anthony Newborne added eight points.
