Lincoln County authorities were interviewing a student thismorning and continuing to monitor the situation at West LincolnAttendance Center following Thursday reports of a threat against ateacher, said Sheriff Lynn Boyte.
Around 11 p.m. Thursday, Boyte said he received information thata student had threatened a teacher and would be appearing at theschool today to carry out the threat.
“We had our officers at the school and in the area last nightand this morning,” Boyte said. “So far, nothing hasmaterialized.”
Boyte said deputies located the 15-year-old student, who did notshow up for class today, and he was being questioned at thesheriff’s office.
“We’re just talking about getting his side of the story,” Boytesaid.
Boyte said he did not think there was anything to the rumors but”it’s something we couldn’t take lightly.”
As the school year nears conclusion, Boyte said threats andsimilar talk become more common. When that happens, word spreadsquickly.
“It seems the more it’s told, the more it’s exaggerated,” Boytesaid.
Boyte said his department is continuing to monitor the situationat West Lincoln, but so far there has been no reports of anyproblems.
