Services for George Brantley “G.B.” Smith of Brookhaven were 2p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.
Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 84, died Dec. 20, 2002, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Brookhaven on May 11, 1918, to Hillary andMary Smith.
He was retired from Lott Furniture Company and Lion Oil Company.He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a veteran ofWorld War II and was a P.O.W.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Bobby JoeSmith; his brothers, Harvey Smith and Jaudon Smith; his sisters,Josie Smith and Joycie Smith; and his great-granddaughter, AriannaRochelle Hollingsworth.
Survivors are his wife, Ernestine Smith of Brookhaven; his sonand daughter-in-law, Anthony and Glenda Smith of Brookhaven; hisdaughter, Patty Jean Hollingsworth of Brookhaven; his brother,Melvin Smith of Brookhaven; his sisters, Myrblee Lee Butler ofBrookhaven and Lillian Smith of Baton Rouge; his grandsons andgranddaughters-in-law, Richie and Amanda Hollingsworth and Sladeand Julie Hollingsworth, all of Brookhaven, Chad and Cindy Smith ofSummit and Adam and Sandy Smith and Kevin Smith, all of Brookhaven;and two great-grandsons, Barry Cooper Hollingsworth and DavidBrantley Smith.
Pallbearers were his grandsons and Howard Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Britt and the Character BuildersSunday School class.
