Frank E. Burns

Frank E. Burns peacefully went home to be with his Lord on July 2, 2012. He was born to Lt. Col. Frank George Burns and Elsa Grenn Burns in New Orleans on Oct. 16, 1928.

     He was a member of Jackson Street United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and LSU with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as a 2nd Lt. and also served in the Army Reserve.

     Frank ran a farming and logging business with his brother Robert for over 50 years. He was an expert marksman, gun enthusiast and a member of the Southwest Gun Club and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Frank enjoyed his Sunday afternoon shooting matches with his fellow club members at his gun range.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents Edward and Rosalie Burns and Edward and Ada Grenn, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

     Mr. Burns is survived by his only sibling Robert Gren Burns and his wife Bonnie and two loving nieces, who he loved as his own daughters: Tracy Burns Jackson and husband Billy and Terri Burns-Mabile and husband Matt; great nieces and nephews, Taylor Lewis, Mandie, Alex, Billy and Benjamin Tucker Jackson, Colby, Sage, Robert Frank (his name sake) “Robbie”, Anna, Samuel and Amy Mabile all of Bogue Chitto. He is also survived by his devoted friend Keith Souther and numerous cousins.

     Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 894 Natchez Drive. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with burial at Easthaven Cemetery.
