JACKSON (AP) – Delphi Automotive says it’s investing about $15million to improve its manufacturing facility in the southMississippi city of Brookhaven.

The investment by the international automotive supplier wasannounced Monday by Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, who said morethan 200 jobs will be retained at the site.

Lindsey Williams, Delphi’s director of corporate communications,told The Associated Press on Monday that the investment is comingbecause the local union, the plant management and local and stategovernments made “a good business case” to keep the plantrunning.

Delphi is based in Troy, Mich. and has operated the Brookhavenplant since 1977, making printed circuit boards.

The Barbour news release said Delphi will install new equipmentand make other improvements to the plant. Starting in March 2013,workers will manufacture a new version of the circuit boards.

“The investment is a necessary element to continue Delphi’sdelivery of innovative and technologically-advanced products andservices,” Jim Spencer, president of Delphi PackardElectrical/Electronic architecture, said in the Barbour newsrelease.

Barbour said: “Delphi has been a key corporate citizen insouthwest Mississippi for more than 30 years. The company’sdecision to further invest in its Brookhaven plant is great newsfor southwest Mississippi.”
