Services for Willie “D.D.” Hunter of Brookhaven are 1 p.m.,Monday, March 15, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church withburial in New Hope Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from noon until 7 p.m., with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Hunter, 78, died March 9, 2004, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Aug. 11, 1925, to Zannie Hunter and AliceJackson Hunter.

He was disabled, and was a World War II Army veteran. He was amember of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, TheolaGoodwin and Juanita Hunter; and his brother, David Hunter.

Survivors are his wife, Rodessa Smith Hunter of Brookhaven; hisdaughters and son-in-law, Mary Clay of Gary, Ind., and Gertha andStephen Clay of Brookhaven; his son, Ray McGee of Alabama; hisstepdaughters, Christine Quarles of Miami, Fla., Vera Daniel andhusband Jackie of Springfield, Mass., and Myrtis Thomas and husbandArthur of Wesson; his stepsons, Willie B. Quarles and wife Faye ofBrookhaven, and Robert Quarles and Alton Ray Young and wife Jewell,all of Jackson; his aunt, Rossie Lee Hunter of Brookhaven; his goodfriend, Calvin Ellis of Brookhaven; 27 grandchildren; and a host ofgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.
