We must never forget 9/11

A theme that surfaced during Friday’s services and ceremoniescommemorating the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001terrorist attacks in New York and Washington was that ofvolunteerism. From the president on down, speakers hailed thecoming together spirit that helped heal the nation, and they urgeda continuation of that spirit today.
We agree and would add another “V” word that must be rememberedand continued. That word is vigilance.
The attacks in 2001 were but one incident – albeit unprecedentedin this country’s history – in a campaign by those who do not shareour sense of life, liberty and freedom to bring those to anend.
The United States must always be on guard against thatchallenge. That fact – like the thousands who tragically lost theirlives on that fateful day eight years ago – must never beforgotten.
