Co-Lin, Miss. Delta split baseball doubleheader

MOOREHEAD — The Co-Lin Wolves baseball team split anon-division doubleheader Friday with the Mississippi DeltaTrojans. Miss. Delta won the opener 5-3 as Co-Lin came back to winthe second contest 6-4.
Co-Lin (18-14) hosts LSU-Eunice Tuesday at Sullivan Field for 2games. The first game kicks off at 3 p.m. The Wolves are coached byKeith Case.
“We just didn’t get some hits,” said Case. “Their pitchers keptus off balance. Our at bats weren’t as good as Tuesday. We hadrunners left in scoring position in the first game.”
Miss. Delta 5, Co-Lin 3
Steve Gauthe powered the Wolves in the first game with a homerun. David Allen New singled 3 times. Timmy Foster and Ryan Hobendoubled. Hoben added a single.
Powering Miss. Delta with a home run apiece were Ben Bush andMaxx Freeman. Beau Jenkins and Jay Watts each tripled.
Jared Lewis was the winning pitcher. Kyle Fairley took the lossin place of starter Brandon Chretien. Fairley fanned 1 batter andwalked 2. Brett Hartfield worked the final inning.
Co-Lin 6, Miss. Delta 4
Justin Champagne (3-2) took the win in the second game, fanning3 batters and walking 2 in 3.2 innings. Hartfield followed with 1.1innings and Foster followed for the final 2. Foster struck out 5and walked 1.
Jesse Spinks took the loss.
Paul Davis and New led the Wolves with a double apiece. Cliburnsingled twice.
Brett Hensen. homered and singled for the Trojans.
