Panthers bag win; girls bow

McCOMB – Chad Hall scored 12 points and Keith Johnson 10 inleading the Brookhaven Panthers to a 53-41 Monday victory overNorth Pike’s Jaguars in the opening round of the McCombInvitational.
The Lady Panthers lost 35-28 to South Pike in the openinground.
Tournament action continues today as Brookhaven plays the SouthPike boys at 1 p.m. The Lady Panthers played Sumrall at 11:30a.m.
The Panthers (5-7) were led by Hall and Fabian Gibson on thebackboards with 7 rebounds apiece. Sophomore center Fred Fairmanblocked 6 shots.
“Our kids are getting better,” said BHS coach Ronald Hines.”They are playing hard and they have playoff potential.”
North Pike got 14 points from Jacob Morgan.
The Lady Panthers (6-5) got a game-high 15 points from KearraCollins in the loss to South Pike. Coach Freda Craft’s team willplay North Pike Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
