Services for Edsel Newman of Hazlehurst were 3:30 p.m. Saturday,May 18, at Stringer Funeral Home Chapel with burial in SpringhillCemetery.

Mr. Newman, 78, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at his residence. Hewas a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County, except for atime with the U.S. Army.

He was a retired mechanic from Brookhaven Screen and Wire. Hewas a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Alice Tanner Newman; brothers, HiramNewman and Wilber Newman of Wesson, Grady Newman and David Newmanof Hazlehurst and Frank Newman of Baton Rouge, La.; and sisters,Bea Price of Eight Mile, Ala., Millie Ferguson of Denham Springs,La., and Mary Jefferion of Plaquemine, La.
