FOXWORTH — Kelli Howard smashed a home run and a singleThursday night to direct the Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats to a 13-3 winover the West Marion Lady Trojans.

Bogue Chitto improved to 24-2 overall and 10-0 in divisionplay.

“We played better tonight,” said Bogue Chitto head coach ScottLeggett. “We came out hitting the ball hard. It’s important tocarry this momentum into the playoffs. We now have to make it onegame, one day at a time.”

Bogue Chitto hosts Lake Tuesday in the first round of the Class1A state tournament. The best-of-three series will be played thatnight, beginning at 5 p.m. with the first game.

Candace Avants tripled and singled for Bogue Chitto. ShaquilleBurton doubled and singled. Doubling was Latoya Braxton. JessieMiller and Dori Hall each singled twice. Singling were ChelseyMiller, Caitlin Owen and Blaine Myers.

Braxton (23-2) was the winning pitcher with 4 (Ks) and 3(BBs).

Junior varsity results

Bogue Chitto nipped West Marion 1-0 in the JV game. Darcy Millerposted the win with 2 (BBs).

Leading the 12-2 Lady ‘Cats at the plate with a triple was MikkiMitchell. Singling were Meagan Roberts, Holly Miller and HannahHolmes.
