John Brantley Bailey

Services for John Brantley Bailey of St. Francesville, La., are1 p.m. today at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel with burialin McBride Cemetery in Jefferson County. Riverwood Family Servicesfuneral home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Bailey, 85, died March 14, 2005, at Baton Rouge GeneralHospital of heart failure. He was born in Wesson on Nov. 22, 1919,to the late Troy W. and Mary Jane Bailey.

He was a retired self-employed contract welder. He was a memberof the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie Bailey of St. Francisville; hissons, John Bailey of St. Francesville and Keith Bailey of NorthCarolina; is daughters, Bernie Aucoin of Theodore, Ala., Diane Jobeof Hot Springs Village, Ark., Sandra Jarrell of Baton Rouge, La.,and Karon Groestsh of New Orleans and Wanda Toney of Baton Rouge;his two sisters, Lorell Colman of Wesson and Vencie Campbell ofJackson; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Merton Boyd

Services for Merton Boyd of the Felder’s Campground communityare 11 a.m. Friday, March 18 at Felder’s United Methodist Churchwith burial in McEwen Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home of McComb isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home andcontinue Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until time ofservice.

Mr. Boyd, 91, died March 16, 2005, at McComb Extended Care. Hewas born in Pike County on Feb. 13, 1914, to the late Noah andGussie McEwen Boyd.

He was a retired carpenter. He was a lifelong member of Felder’sUnited Methodist Church, where he was a church trustee and servedon numerous boards and committees.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, EvaAlexander Boyd; three brothers, Clarence Boyd, Kary Boyd and GordonBoyd; and two sisters, Annie Mae Matthews Jones and AzaleaDickerson.

Survivors are his wife, Frances Boyd of McComb; his sons anddaughters-in-law, Aubrey and Judy Boyd of Summit and Chris andMarie Boyd of Columbus, Ga.; his daughter, Irene B. Travis of theFelder’s Campground Community; his stepsons and wives, Don and SueGoldbold of Brookhaven, Bob and Jan Godbold of Bogue Chitto andMarvin and Dot Godbold of McComb; his stepdaughter and her husband,Carolyn and K.C. Avery of Springfield, Va.; his brothers, ArchieBoyd and Elmer Boyd, both of the Felder’s Campground Community; hissister, Geneva Pomes of the Felder’s Campground Community; eightgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; ninegreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stevenson, 69, died March 11, 2005, at SouthwestMississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. She was born inLincoln County on Sept. 11, 1935, to the late Rufus and Rosana ByrdRay.

She was disabled. She was a member of Center Street Church ofChrist in Brookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, RobertRichardson, Tyree Gearing and William Stevenson; her brothers,Wesley Ray and Ezell Ray; and her sisters, Hilda Allen, Ollie MaeMcCoy and Pearline Kelly.

Survivors are her brothers, Andrew Ray of Oakland, Calif., andTarzon Ray of Lansing, Mich.; a niece, Annie King Henderson ofBrookhaven; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Reggie Stringer

Services for Reggie Stringer of Monticello are 1 p.m. Saturday,March 19, at China Lee M.B. Church in Monticello with burial in thechurch cemetery. Washington Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday, March 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at thefuneral home and from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Stringer, 92, died March 9, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Monticello on Sept. 2, 1912, to the late Henry Stringer andJosephine Fox.

He was a farmer.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and twosisters.

Survivors are his son, Reginald Stringer of Monticello and fourgrandchildren.

Velma Ray Carney Wilson

Mrs. Wilson, 81, died March 15, 2005, at her residence. She wasborn in Lawrence County on July 15, 1923, to the late Walter andAlice Mohon Carney.

She was a retired nurses aid. She was a member of Bethel BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, two brothersand three sisters.

Survivors are her sons, Buck Wilson and James Wilson; herdaughter, Rosemary Sauls; her sister, Sybil White, all ofMonticello; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
