Panthers go 2-for-3 over weekend

Xavier Qualls ripped a home run, a double and a single to leadthe host Brookhaven Panthers to a 21-1 win over the JeffersonCounty Tigers in the second game of a baseball doubleheaderSaturday afternoon.
In the first game, the Hattiesburg Tigers visited Brookhaven andcame away with a 7-3 win.
In Friday’s division game at Terry, the Panthers knocked off thehost Bulldogs 6-2. Coaching Brookhaven is Randy Spring.
Brookhaven 21, Jefferson Co. 1
Senior Matt Walker (1-0) was the winning pitcher with sixstrikeouts, one walk and one run allowed on one hit. Brandt Hintonworked in relief with three strikeouts, one walk and one hitallowed. Dorian Gray was the losing hurler.
Scotty Smith belted a double and two singles for the Panthers.Drilling a triple and a double was Darius Perkins. Brooks Halldoubled twice.
Adding support to the Brookhaven win with a triple was Hinton.Cody Dunaway doubled. Hitting safely were Marlon Dixon, GrantMcDonnieal, Josh Patrick,Walker, W.T. King and Adam Ogden.
Donald Griffin and Kevin Berry singled for Jefferson County.
Hattiesburg 7, Brookhaven 3
Hattiesburg broke open the close game with four runs in the topof the sixth inning for a 6-3 lead. The Tigers added one more runin the seventh for insurance in the comeback win.
Reggie Lee was the winning pitcher in relief of starter MarcusSpann. Darius Perkins (1-1) absorbed the loss with Qualls takingover in the sixth inning.
Dunaway led Brookhaven with a double. Singling were Perkins,Qualls, Hall, McDonnieal, Smith and Patrick.
Hattiesburg got a triple and two singles from Aaron Sackles. Leedoubled and singled. Also doubling was Michael Sanders. MarcusSpann and Brent Lefan hit safely.
Brookhaven 6, Terry 2
In Friday’s action, Hall (5-0) nailed down the win on the moundwith seven strikeouts and one walk. Adam Cook took the loss.
Pacing the Panthers with a pair of singles was Perkins. Quallsdoubled. Hitting safely were Ogden, McDonnieal, Smith, Patrick,Dunaway and King.
Terry got a pair of singles from Jacob Knight. Jess Shelby andBrad McCollough singled.
Brookhaven (11-3, 7-0) travels to Monticello Tuesday to facedivision rival Lawrence County.
