Co-Lin women take pair from Southwest

WESSON – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves swept a South Division softballdoubleheader Thursday night from the Southwest Lady Bears.
Co-Lin won the first game 9-1 and came back to take the secondcontest 5-2.
The Wolves (19-5) resume play Tuesday, April 6, at Hinds. The firstgame begins at 2 p.m.
“It was a good day for us,” said Co-Lin head softball coach AllenKent. “We overtook Southwest in the standings and got ourselvesback in the division race. We raised our division mark from 2-4 to6-4.”

“Daniele Wilson had a huge game, showing a lot of patience,” saidKent. “Wilson walked, was hit by a pitch and hit two home runs for5 RBI.”
Co-Lin’s Holli Smith singled twice, scored twice and sole twobases. DeeDee Wallace doubled and singled. Haley Sones added asingle.
At the plate, Bethany Pinkston hurled the victory in 5 innings with9 strikeouts, 1 walk and 4 hits allowed. The lone run wasunearned.
“Bethany had another solid performance in a big game,” addedKent.
Co-Lin 5, Southwest 2
Co-Lin went up 1-0 in the first inning as Southwest took a brief2-1 lead in the top of the second. The Wolves came back with 2 runsin the bottom of the second for a 4-2 lead.
In the sixth, Co-Lin added an insurance run in the sixth topreserve the sweep.
Pinkston (19-5) collected the win, going 7 innings with 9strikeouts, w walk and 4 hits allowed.
Smith and Coleman each went for 3-for-3 to lead the Co-Lin hittingattack. Walker added 2 singles and a stolen base.
