West Lincoln blanks Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE – The West Lincoln Lady Bears are ridding a four-game winning streak after knocking off the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 4-0 Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.
The Lady Bears (8-4-1) begins their race Region 7-2A action Thursday. They will invade Sandhill to battle the Pisgah Lady Dragons. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.
West Lincoln 4, Franklin Co. 0
The Lady Bears came out and overpowered the Lady Bulldogs to claim a 2-0 lead after two innings of action. West Lincoln relied on their strong defensive play to keep Franklin County scoreless and add a couple of insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
Heather Moak was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with one strikeout and no walks.
Shelly Case absorbed the setback for the Lady Bulldogs with no strikeouts and two walks.
Right-center fielder Breanna Fauver paced West Lincoln’s offense with three singles. Layton Sills contributed a double and a single. Micah Redd provided a double. Destiny Allen and Karley Smith hit safely.
Jamecia Starks and Hayle McKinney were the offensive leaders for Franklin County with three singles apiece. Alyssa Case and Jaleshia Bethley ripped a single each.
In JV action, Franklin County edged West Lincoln 3-2.
Anna Brooke Davis, Peyton White, Millane, Sara Jane Doty and Brittney Hill directed the Lady Bears at the plate with a single apiece.
