Franklin County shocks McComb

MEADVILLE – Franklin County head coach Chris Calcote and the Bulldogs sent shockwaves through the state Friday night with a 33-28 upset of McComb High.
McComb, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A couldn’t stop the Bulldogs’ rushing attack of Chris Robinson, Bernard Selmon and Darrin Wiley.
Robinson, a 5-10, 185-pound senior tailback, rushed for 145 yards on 22 carries. He scored three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs (1-2) got off a to quick start, as Robinson scored on touchdown runs of three and 18 yards out to take a commanding 14-0 lead into intermission.
Selmon and Wiley got into the scoring act next with TD scampers in the third quarter. Robinson added his third touchdown also in the quarter for a 33-7 FCHS lead.
McComb High, paced by standout senior QB Alex Woodall, mounted a furious rally in the fourth quarter with three touchdowns. The FC lead was cut to 33-28, but the Bulldogs held on to capture the surprising upset.
FC plays at 3A powerhouse Tylertown next. Game time is Friday at 7.
Selmon led all rushers with 149 yards rushing on 29 attempts. Wiley finished with 70 yards rushing on five carries.
