Jerry Walter Cavin Sr.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, with visitation from 12:00 until the time of service and burial at Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery.

With heavy hearts, the Cavin family announces the passing of Jerry Walter Cavin Sr. He was born June 30, 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He left this world surrounded by family and friends at the age of 75.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Evelyn Cavin; by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Florence Cavin; by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Elizabeth Berryhill; by his daughter Annette Cavin; and by his beloved niece Michelle Cavin Brown, who was like a daughter to him.

Jerry is survived by and will be missed everyday by his loving wife and partner, Brenda Cavin; by his children Jay Cavin and Destiney Robb (and husband James); by his grandchildren, Mila Robb, Shanon Robb, and Ethan Robb; by his siblings, Mike Cavin (and wife Phyllis) and Regina Cooper (and husband John); as well as by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jerry’s favorite times were spent simply. An avid outdoorsman, he often spent his time hunting, fishing, and admiring the natural beauty of this Earth. Above all, Jerry loved spending his time with his hands in the soil, tending to his garden. He loved providing for family, friends, and anyone who needed (or wanted) his homegrown veggies.

Jerry was a generous, devoted, and strong man. His presence in our community will be greatly missed by all.

The pallbearers are Patrick Cavin, Jack Brown, Anthony Kimmons, Chris Cavin, Chris Scott, and Lane Cavin. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Shanon Robb, Ethan Robb, and Mila Robb.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the March of Dimes.
