A Crystal Springs pastor is in jail after he was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple sex crimes.
The Rev. Christopher Willett was charged with statutory rape, unnatural intercourse, computer luring of a person, and child pornography.
Crystal Springs Police Chief Robert Thomas said Willett was arrested after the victim came to the police station with a psychologist, detailing the abuse.
Because Willett was known to have guns in his home, police said, he was lured to City Hall to discuss other matters so he could be arrested without incident.
He is being held at the Copiah County Jail on no bond. The case remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
According to the church’s website, Willett has been senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Crystal Springs since October 2020, after serving in pastoral positions in Florida and in Columbia, Mississippi. The married father of one is also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
