The City of McComb is without a chief of police, at least temporarily.
McComb Mayor Quordiniah Lockley announced Wednesday that Chief Juan Cloy was placed on paid administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting that left a teenager dead.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, McComb Police officers had responded to calls of a suspicious vehicle near the 200 block of 25th Street. When officers arrived and encountered the vehicle, two persons exited the car and one presented a weapon aimed at the officers.
The officers both fired their weapons in response, striking and fatally injuring one of the subjects. The other individual was arrested. Neither officer suffered serious physical injuries.
The subject killed has been identified as 16-year-old Jamarion Seiber.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completion of the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
Mayor Lockley said Chief Cloy will remain on leave pending the results of the investigation.
