BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote gave a brief rundown of the county’s financial report for the first month of Fiscal Year 2025 Monday morning. The report was presented to the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors.

Calcote said through the first month of the fiscal year they have collected 5.8 percent of their projected annual revenue. Total expenditures through October were 12.3 percent of the annual budget.

“It is a slow time of the year, the first three months of the fiscal year we don’t get a lot of collections,” Calcote said. “We spent 12 percent which is a little high but expected. We have a few departments over.”

Civil Defense is one of the departments that was over the budget with 24.5 percent of its annual budget expended in the first month. Calcote explained Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid needed a new truck and purchased one within his budget.

Constables spent 24.5 percent of its annual budgeted expenditures due to a high volume of warrants served in October. Calcote said hopefully November won’t be as high.

Elections spent 60.9 percent of annual budgeted expenditures due to federal election supplies and training in October. It is likely November’s expenditures will be high as well due to the federal election.

“Everything will flatten out. We are looking fine,” Calcote said. “We still have a little bit left of ARPA funding. Sheriff Steve Rushing and Reid are spending money on the E911 building renovations. We have about $91,000 left.”

On Dec. 11, Mississippi Sen. Jason Barrett, Rep. Becky Currie and Rep. Vince Mangold will be at the board’s docket meeting. Supervisors will speak to them about their needs for Lincoln County for the upcoming legislative session.
