Veterans: Tell your stories for Library of Congress project

Published 10:00 am Wednesday, November 13, 2024

The Mississippi Library Commission is participating in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, a national initiative to collect and preserve the firsthand accounts of U.S. military veterans.

MLC is looking for veterans across Mississippi who are willing to share their personal stories and experiences from their time in service.

The Veterans History Project, established by Congress in 2000, aims to honor American veterans by archiving their stories for future generations. These narratives provide invaluable insights into military service and contribute to a greater understanding of American history.

Call for participation

MLC invites veterans from all branches of the military, and from all periods of service, to participate in this important project. We are seeking volunteers who are willing to share their stories through interviews, personal letters, photographs, and other memorabilia.

By contributing to the project, Mississippi veterans have the opportunity to document their unique experiences and ensure their legacy is preserved for future generations. This initiative not only honors the service of our veterans but also enriches our national archives with diverse perspectives from those who have served.
