BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County’s love and support continues to pour out for the family of Officer Troy Floyd. Lions Club of Brookhaven raised money for the family with a prize raffle Tuesday.

Floyd was a Summit police officer when he was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 8, 2024. He had a true servant’s heart, loved God, his family and the people of Lincoln County.

His widow Sage Floyd and daughter Carlyanna Nicholson were guests of the Lions Club Tuesday. Sage laughed as she watched the Lions banter, tell jokes and called out one prize winner several times in a row. She thanked everyone for their support.

“He never met a stranger and did his best to serve God first. This is a tremendous blessing, thank you, it means a lot,” Sage said. “He loved Lincoln County and protecting and serving. We appreciate it.”

Lions Club Chapter President Gwen Smith said they were honored and saddened by the nature of the fundraiser.

“We wanted to give a token of thanks for what Troy did,” Smith said.

Lions Club of Brookhaven did not want to release the total amount raised but said the fundraiser was a great success. Leigh Ann Martin wanted to especially thank Lincoln County.

“We appreciate the community supporting the family and our fundraiser,” Martin said. “We also would like to thank each of the businesses that donated prizes.”
