A 50-year-old McComb man has pleaded guilty in Walthall County Circuit Court to charges of child exploitation and child pornography.
Elvis Wayne Holmes, a cafeteria worker in the Walthall County School District, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of child exploitation and two counts of child pornography, and was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment, to serve day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, by Circuit Judge Michael Taylor. Holmes will not be eligible for early release or parole for the length of the sentence.
The off-campus incident was reported by the school district, and investigated by the Walthall County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
“I commend the school district’s response and the diligent investigation and joint efforts of the sheriffs’ departments to protect the children of our community from predators,” said District Attorney Brendon Adams.
“We have to continue to work with every available asset to make sure that we are protecting our children for the future. These types of crimes have to be dealt with fairly, but harshly,” Adams said. “Having three children of my own, this type of case hits home. I want to thank all parties involved for swift justice and holding this defendant accountable for his actions.”
