Wildfire risk increases in Lincoln County

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County is at an increasing risk for wildfires. The National Weather Service warns wildfire danger will increase from Monday to Wednesday.

Dry fuel, low humidity and wind are all contributing to this increased risk of wildfire danger. Extra caution is advised for anyone burning in the open in Lincoln County.

As of Monday, the county is not under a burn ban at this time. Citizens can still help lower the risk of wildfires spreading by securing trailer chains and disposing of cigarette butts properly and not on the ground.
