Highway Patrol identifies victims in fatal Pike County bus crash

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on US-98 in Pike County.
A 1997 Ford Ranger driven by 51-year-old Gregory Young of McComb, MS, traveled north in the Pike 93 cross-over of US-98 when it collided with a 2011 MCI Bus driven by 43-year-old Garry Grant of Ocean Springs, MS, traveling west on US-98. Gregory Young and his passenger, 46-year-old Brandy Simmons of Magnolia, MS, received fatal injuries from the crash and were pronounced dead on the scene.
The bus involved in the crash was carrying the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College marching band. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College played Southwest Mississippi Community College Thursday night in football.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
