Tuesday forecast to be the hottest day this week

BROOKHAVEN — Heat stress conditions persist along with wildfire conditions Tuesday. The high temperature of 95 is forecast to be the hottest this week.
National Weather Service in Jackson warns there is an increasing risk of heat stress this week until Saturday. Lincoln County residents are spared of humidity today. Tuesday’s high of 95 is just one degree below the forecasted peak heat index of 96. Relative humidity will drop down to 35 percent between 4 and 5 p.m. today.
Rain will threaten over the next several days which could bump the heat index up to 103 with a high forecast to reach 94 Wednesday. The chance of rain tomorrow is 40 percent.
Thursday through Sunday have 60 percent chances of rain and Labor Day’s chance of rain is 70 percent.
NWS Jackson warns heat exhaustion over the next few days is likely with prolonged outdoor activity. Remember to stay hydrated, avoid strenous outdoor activities and take frequent breaks if working outside.
Fire danger conditions continue Tuesday with low humidity and breezy winds. Remember to secure trailer chains so they don’t drag on the roadway. One spark is all it takes to start a wildfire.
Seven counties in Mississippi are under a burn ban at this time. The closest counties under a burn ban are Adams and Franklin Counties.
If heat and wildfires weren’t enough for you to think about. The National Hurricane Center forecasts a 20 percent chance of tropical cyclone formation in the next seven days.
