Janice Allen Sisung

Janice Allen Sisung, aged 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Mill, South Carolina, on August 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with a rare neurodegenerative disease, Corticobasal Syndrome.
Born on August 5, 1952, in Wesson, Mississippi, Janice was the beloved daughter of Billy and Aline Allen. In high school Janice was voted Miss Belle Chasse High School, Class Vice President, Most Athletic and Most Likely to Succeed, Student Council representative, won the American Legion Award, and was Captain of the cheerleading, basketball, softball, and volleyball teams. After graduating from Belle Chasse High School in 1970, where she was Valedictorian, Janice went on to study education at Nicholls State University.
Janice was a loving wife to her devoted husband of 52 years, Andrew Sisung, of Fort Mill, South Carolina. She was a precious mother to her cherished daughter, Stacie Lynn Sisung Gornet (Terry), of Charlotte, North Carolina and the best “Nana” ever to her three dearest grandchildren, Alexa Gornet (23), Sophia Gornet (21), and Cooper Gornet (16), all of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Chamblee (Danny), of Sandy Hook, Mississippi and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who held her dear. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Aline Allen; her brothers, Gary and Darryl Allen; and her sister, Deborah Allen Armstrong.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, known for her unwavering support and pride in her family. Janice loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, including cheerleading competitions, swim meets, basketball games, and especially baseball games. She always cheered them on with enthusiasm and love.
Janice’s life was a testament to her boundless kindness and generosity. Her family was her greatest joy, and she touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion. Her memory will be cherished forever by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The world is a little dimmer without her bright spirit, but her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
