Jonathan Adam Whittington, 37, a resident of Wesson, Miss., passed away on Fri., July 12, 2024 at his residence. Visitation will be held from 11:30 am-1:30 pm Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Hazlehurst Methodist Church, 127 Caldwell Dr., Hazlehurst, MS. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow at Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Josh Hood and Rev. Victor Willis Sr. Pall bearers are Warren Hood, Peyton Hood, Hunter Hood, Brandon Hood, Troy Moak, Mitchell Wilkinson, John Thomas and Stewart Thomas. Honorary pall bearers are Andrew Knight and Lamar Puryear IV.

Adam, a native of Hazlehurst, was born April 25, 1987 in Flowood, Miss. He was a 2005 graduate of Wesson Attendance Center where he was a member of the Cobra golf team. Upon graduation, he attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was employed by McNeeley Plastics in Gallman as a machinist. He was a member of Hazlehurst Methodist Church.

Adam served as a volunteer little league baseball coach for many years at Wesson Athletic Foundation. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family at Wolf Hollow Golf Course, Rolling Hills Country Club and others. The Ole Miss Rebels, the New Orleans Saints and the Boston Red Sox were his favorite teams, and he rarely missed a game on television or in person.

Adam had a tender heart and made friends quickly. He could carry on a conversation with anyone he met. Knowing Adam meant you could be a timely victim of his pranks and jokes, as well, as he strived to bring laughter and joy to those he knew. He had an unusual knack for comforting those in need. And, he loved spending time with his wife Tiffany and son Colby.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carroll V. Hood and Armon Whittington Jr.; aunts, Shelia Hood Puryear and Linda Norman Hood; and cousin, Brandt Hood.

Adam is survived by his wife, Tiffany Stephens Whittington; and son, Jacobe Eli Moore; parents, Joe Buck and Karen Hood Coates of Wesson, and Paul H. and Chrysti Whittington of Hazlehurst; mother-in-law, Tonya Stephens; siblings, Blake Whittington (Raiven) of Crystal Springs, Elise Whittington Cupit (Payton) of Wesson, Grayson Cole Coates of Wesson, Connor Coates of Hazlehurst, Aimee Fry (Joey) of Brookhaven, Erin Rodriguez (Cesar) and Dana Page of North Carolina; grandmothers, Elizabeth Hood, Rachel B. Goodson and Anna Coates, all of Hazlehurst; and, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
